TMOG Mission Statement
The Tactical Medical Operators Group (TMOG) is dedicated to the following mission:
- To act as an association for the exchange of ideas, tactics and skills of tactical medical operators in our state. Mississippi has a wealth of experience in tactical medicine from senior medical operators on local, state and federal teams to instructors within the Regional Counter Drug Training Academy, to emergency medicine physicians. Through an organized forum we can benefit from each otheršs experience.
- To assist departments, agencies, and municipalities with the logistics involved in creating a tactical emergency support solution for tactical operations. There are obstacles to overcome and issues to discuss such as malpractice, liability and disability. These issues have been raised and dealt with before. The benefits of having a TEMS program far outweigh the initial logistical headaches. We have walked through the steps and provide information and counsel for those who are in need and desire a tactical medical component.
- To define a standard for tactical medicine to be practiced in our community and to support and promote training within our state inline with those standards. We believe that basic TEMS instruction should be readily available and accessible to the tactical medics in our state.
- To provide instruction to all SWAT operators in the state of Mississippi on basic trauma care. To provide guidance in the selection of the basic equipment they should all carry and the training to use it. It is our belief that lives can be saved by simple interventions with simple tools, and that those tools and the knowledge to use them should be a basic requirement for tactical operators.
- To provide knowledgeable medical control for tactical medics within the state of Mississippi. This medical control will meet current Operational Security (OPSEC) requirements for the teams we support and will be available and accessible 24 hours a day. It will be staffed by physicians familiar with tactical medicine as well as the stresses and operational requirements of the tactical operator.
